Daily Digest - April 5, 2026

CLARITY Act stalls, Solana quantum tradeoffs, Coinbase becomes a federally regulated bank, ETH dominates tokenized funds at 71.9%, and AI agents are already settling in stablecoins.

Morning Edition

Good Sunday morning. CLARITY Act is now officially stalled - it’s no longer “any day now.” Solana’s quantum team ran the numbers and they’re brutal. And CZ dropped a 20-50 year Bitcoin thesis that’s worth reading past the headline.

1. CLARITY Act Officially Stalls in Senate

The stablecoin bill that’s been “48 hours away” for three weeks has finally hit a wall that everyone can see. Yield language remains the surgical holdout - banks don’t want yield-bearing stablecoins competing directly with deposits, and crypto firms won’t accept a blanket yield ban. Senate markup is the next real gate (late April window). Until Eleanor Terrett or @patrickjwitt signal movement, the headline count is noise.

2. Solana Quantum Security Test Results: Speed Costs a Lot

Solana’s security team published quantum resistance benchmarks overnight. The tradeoff is stark: post-quantum signature schemes add 2-10x computational overhead per transaction. At 65,000 TPS, that math doesn’t work without hardware changes. It’s an honest admission that “quantum-resistant” and “high-throughput L1” aren’t free at the same time - you have to choose which to prioritize first. The migration path will matter more than the destination.

3. Franklin Templeton’s Chris Perkins: “We Came to Be the Leading Active Manager in the World”

Franklin Templeton’s new head of Franklin Crypto, Chris Perkins, appeared on CryptoAmerica overnight. The framing: regulatory clarity isn’t something to wait for, it’s something to build around now. “Whether you like it or not, we’re getting regulatory certainty. We couldn’t have a better foundation for institutions to really come in.” Franklin acquired 250 Digital last week. Perkins is now running the combined entity with a clear mandate: institutional-grade active crypto management at scale.

4. CZ: Bitcoin Will Reach $1,000,000 - In 20 to 50 Years

Binance founder CZ posted his BTC price target: $1M, but on a 20-50 year timeline. The framing matters. This isn’t the standard “this cycle” prediction - it’s a generational store-of-value thesis built on fixed supply and increasing global adoption. The 20-50 year window is deliberately wide. It sidesteps the question retail always asks (“when?”) and reframes BTC as infrastructure rather than a trade. Worth noting: CZ said this from a post-plea position, not as a Binance marketing exercise.

5. Anthropic Pulls Claude from Third-Party Tools

Starting today at 12pm PT, Anthropic Claude subscriptions no longer cover usage in third-party tools and platforms. Users who rely on Claude-powered integrations need either an API key or an extra usage bundle (at a discount). Boris Cherny’s announcement hit 2.98M views yesterday. The community reaction is largely frustrated - the expectation was that a subscription covered the model everywhere. Anthropic is drawing a sharper line between “Claude.ai” and “Claude the API.”

6. Coinbase OCC Charter: The Cost Structure Story

Coinbase’s conditional national trust bank charter (announced Friday) keeps growing - now at 38,400 posts. The second-order story is emerging: one federal regulator instead of 50 state-by-state licensing requirements changes Coinbase’s institutional custody cost structure significantly. Community banks are pushing back through industry groups, but the OCC approval is conditional, not pending. The bank opposition is political noise until an actual legal challenge materializes.

OpenAI is trending under Technology without a specific story attached - likely spillover from the Anthropic announcement and ongoing model competition coverage. GPT-5 speculation and o3 pricing debates are active threads. Nothing breaking yet, but the AI infrastructure conversation is moving fast this weekend.

8. LayerZero CEO: Institutional Tokenization Sentiment Has Flipped

LayerZero’s co-founder and CEO Bryan Pellegrino on CryptoAmerica (Eleanor Terrett repost, 16K views): “It was totally written off a couple of years ago. Now it’s like, oh, actually, I could see a world where there’s direct tokenization.” He isn’t describing gradual warming - he’s describing a sentiment flip. The same institutions that dismissed tokenization two years ago are now running internal pilots. The question has shifted from “will this happen?” to “how fast?”

9. BoJ April 28 - Carry Unwind Watch Starts Now

The Bank of Japan’s April 28 policy decision is 23 days out and starting to show up in macro commentary. The carry trade (borrow cheap JPY, buy higher-yielding assets including crypto) unwind thesis: if BoJ signals another rate hike, the unwinding hits risk assets including BTC and ETH. The Aug 2024 carry unwind hit crypto hard. Positioning now matters. Any BTC weakness heading into late April could be BoJ-driven rather than crypto-fundamental.

10. RIFT: Still 0 Posts, Still Watching

RIFT (@riftai_) - Sequoia, a16z, Lightspeed backed, 43.8K followers - has posted nothing. A 44K-follower account that’s never posted is either a stealth launch building toward a specific moment, or it’s been delayed. Either way, when it breaks, it breaks fast. The Hyperliquid mobile competitive landscape changes the day RIFT goes live.

Three repos worth bookmarking from today’s trending:

Blaizzy/mlx-vlm ⭐ 3.5K (+316 today) Vision Language Models on Apple Silicon via MLX. Run multimodal AI locally on your Mac - image understanding, visual question answering, fine-tuning. The MLX ecosystem keeps building out fast.

block/goose ⭐ 35.6K (+947 today) Open source extensible AI agent from Block (Jack Dorsey’s company). Goes beyond code suggestions - installs, executes, edits, and tests with any LLM. Rust-built, works with Claude/GPT/local models. One of the most serious open-source agent frameworks out there.

microsoft/agent-framework ⭐ 8.7K (+66 today) Microsoft’s framework for building, orchestrating and deploying multi-agent workflows. Python and .NET support. The fact that Microsoft is building a first-party agent orchestration framework (not just using LangChain) is a signal about where enterprise AI tooling is heading.

Evening Edition

Good Sunday evening. Two stories from this afternoon are worth your attention before the week starts. Ethereum now holds 71.9% of all tokenized fund AUM - and the reason why tells you something about where the next $100B flows. A payment protocol called x402 is already turning AI agents into autonomous buyers. And how prepared are you for BoJ on April 28? Here’s what happened today.

1. ETH Dominates Tokenized Funds: 71.9% and Climbing

$22.5 billion in tokenized fund AUM is now on Ethereum, representing 71.9% of the entire market. The numbers from RWA.xyz show BlackRock’s BUIDL fund continues to lead, but the more interesting story is why ETH keeps winning: settlement finality that institutional custodians trust, plus the deepest DeFi composability stack. BlackRock didn’t choose ETH because it was convenient - they ran the due diligence. The remaining 28.1% on other chains will only grow as their institutional-grade custody infrastructure matures.

2. AI Agents Are Already Paying With Stablecoins

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong’s prediction - stablecoin transactions will grow 100x as AI agents outnumber humans - looks obvious once you understand x402. The protocol works like this: an AI agent makes an HTTP request, gets a 402 Payment Required response, pays a stablecoin micropayment, then gets the resource. Claude Code already has it embedded. Every API call from an AI agent becomes an autonomous stablecoin payment. The 100x volume prediction is probably underselling it.

3. Central Banks Are Bringing Repo Markets Onchain

UBS. Société Générale. Banque de France. Not experimenting - running actual repo transactions on Ethereum. The global repo market is $12.5 trillion. Even 1% onchain is $125 billion. The institutions that spent two years saying “blockchain not Bitcoin” are now deploying real capital on public infrastructure. This is what Bryan Pellegrino meant when he said sentiment “flipped.”

4. Solana Quantum Test: The Numbers Are Brutal

The story ran in the morning but the data is worth sitting with. Post-quantum signature schemes (CRYSTALS-Dilithium, FALCON) produce signatures 40x larger than Ed25519. On Solana at 65,000 TPS, the signature bandwidth alone breaks the throughput model. The test result: 90% speed reduction. Every high-throughput L1 faces this same wall - Solana just ran the benchmark honestly. The migration path will matter more than picking the right PQ algorithm.

5. Coinbase OCC Charter: Infrastructure, Not Headlines

At 40,300 posts and still climbing, the Coinbase federal bank charter story keeps finding new angles. The one worth focusing on: a national trust bank charter means Coinbase operates under a single federal regulator instead of maintaining 50 separate state money transmitter licenses. A national charter is a structural change - it reshapes the unit economics of institutional custody. More institutional custody capacity at lower compliance cost equals more institutional clients. Community bank opposition is noise until a legal challenge materializes.

Chainlink completed its scheduled Q1 unlock - 19 million LINK (~$165 million) moved from non-circulating supply to Binance. Three reserve addresses were tapped. Token unlocks of this size hitting a single exchange in one day historically create short-term sell pressure. Not a fundamental story, but worth watching for LINK price action this week.

7. Robert Kiyosaki: Bitcoin as Crash Insurance

Robert Kiyosaki is back with another BTC endorsement tied to a financial crash prediction. His track record on timing is poor but his audience (millions of retail investors) takes him seriously. Stories like this are more useful as a sentiment indicator than analysis. When Kiyosaki is loud, retail fear is high. That’s historically been a decent accumulation signal for patient holders.

8. Peer-Reviewed BTC Price Model: $1M by 2027

The Journal of Risk and Financial Management published a model predicting Bitcoin reaches $1 million by 2027 and $5 million by 2031. Academic BTC price models have a mixed track record but the methodology matters - this one uses stock-to-flow adjustments and adoption curve modeling rather than just extrapolation. With 1,222 posts, it’s getting traction. CZ’s 20-50 year $1M thesis from this morning vs an academic model calling it by 2027 is a useful contrast in framing.

9. BoJ April 28: 23 Days Out, Start Watching

The Bank of Japan rate decision is now the most important macro event on the crypto calendar before May. The carry trade thesis: if BoJ signals another hike, cheap JPY borrowing gets more expensive, carry unwinds hit risk assets. August 2024 showed what that looks like - BTC dropped hard and fast. With Liberation Day tariff uncertainty already creating volatility, an April 28 BoJ surprise could compound. Start thinking about your BoJ exposure now.

10. RIFT: Still 0 Posts

Four days into the watch. @riftai_ - Sequoia, a16z, Lightspeed backed, 43.8K followers - has posted nothing. The longer the silence from a well-funded account with real institutional backing, the more deliberate the launch timing. This breaks when it breaks and it’ll move fast.
