Morning Digest - April 23, 2026

Morning crypto and tech roundup - BTC ~$78K, ETH recovery, GENIUS Act advancing, BoJ watch

cryptodefimarketstech

Markets showing some life this morning as macro shifts and protocol developments give bulls something to work with.

Markets

BTC ~$78K, holding key support. Bitcoin is trading around $78K, bouncing off recent lows. Markets responded to Trump signaling willingness to reduce China tariffs, but the rally has been modest. The $77K level is near-term support to watch. A sustained move above $80K would be the first bullish signal.

ETH ~$2,356, recovering. Ethereum has bounced meaningfully from the $1,400 lows (the Matrixport whale liquidation zone). The $1,400 level held as support. Current price is ~$2,356 with next resistance at $2,500-2,600.

BoJ April 28 - 5 days out. The Bank of Japan meeting is the next macro landmine. Any hawkish signal triggers yen appreciation, carry trade unwind, and a crypto dump. This is the risk window to watch. Any Ueda statements before then will move markets.

US-China trade de-escalation. The market rallied on vibes, not signed agreements. The tariff situation remains fluid. If talks collapse, expect a fast reversal. Trade the momentum but keep stops tight.

DeFi & Protocol News

Hyperliquid perps dominance continues. Hyperliquid is pulling in volume that would embarrass mid-tier CEXes. The on-chain perps thesis is playing out exactly as expected. Centralized exchanges are losing the sophisticated trader segment faster than they admit.

GENIUS Act advancing in Senate. The stablecoin bill is through committee and moving toward a floor vote. This is the first real shot at a US regulatory framework for stablecoins. If it passes, expect a wave of bank-backed stablecoin announcements within 90 days. The compliance infrastructure buildout starts now.

Solana ecosystem momentum. New projects continue to launch on Solana at a consistent clip. The dev tooling has matured enough that it is no longer a second-tier choice. The SPL token standard and program library are battle-tested at this point.

Tech & Dev

AI agent infrastructure maturing. The tooling for running agents that interact with on-chain systems is moving fast. Multi-agent orchestration, memory systems, and MCP integrations are going from experimental to production-grade. Worth tracking closely for protocol integrations.

solana-labs/solana-program-library - The canonical collection of on-chain Solana programs. If you are building on Solana, this is your reference implementation. Token, token-2022, governance, name service - all here.

paradigmxyz/reth - Paradigm’s Rust-based Ethereum execution client. Performance numbers are genuinely impressive. With client diversity still a concern on Ethereum, reth gaining traction matters. Worth watching as it approaches full production readiness.

Doug’s Take

BTC at $78K is at a crossroads - the $77K support is real and the US-China trade de-escalation narrative is the only thing holding the floor right now. The BoJ meeting on April 28 is the next risk event that could break things either way. If Ueda signals hawkishness, carry trade unwind hits risk assets hard. If neutral or dovish, BTC has room to push toward $82-85K. Watch the BoJ.

Evening Update - April 23, 2026

BTC: $77,654 | ETH: $2,317 | 18:00 HKT

Markets Evening Check

BTC $77,654 - holding but fragile. Prices slipped slightly through the day, now sitting just above the $77K support. No major catalysts in either direction. The trade de-escalation narrative is losing steam without concrete policy announcements. BoJ April 28 is now 5 days out and traders are getting cautious.

Polymarket launching perps - narrative shift. Polymarket officially announced 24/7 perpetuals trading. The bear case (735K MAUs vs Hyperliquid 310K = competition) misses the point - prediction market users and perp traders are different cohorts. The more likely outcome is both platforms grow as on-chain trading total addressable market expands.

ABA wants 60 more days on GENIUS Act. The American Bankers Association requested a 60-day extension on GENIUS Act comment periods. Read this as delay tactic, not genuine procedural concern. Banks aren’t fighting stablecoins - they’re buying time to own the infrastructure rails.

Dev & AI Tools

Garry Tan’s SKILLIFY IT loop. YC president shared his OpenClaw workflow for building GBrain: do something manually, then say “SKILLIFY IT”. The agent captures the pattern and codifies it. 500 likes, 754 bookmarks - resonated hard with the builder community.

berabuddies/agentflow - Orchestrate Codex, Claude Code, and Kimi agents as dependency graphs. Parallel fanout (64 workers simultaneously), iterative cycles (loop until LGTM), remote EC2/ECS execution. Simpler than LangGraph, agent-specific. The 94-node pipeline example is worth reading.

BigtoC/scorpio-analyst - Rust-native multi-agent portfolio manager. Reimplements the TradingAgents framework. Free data stack: Finnhub, yfinance, FRED. Supports DCF, EV/EBITDA, options flow, macro analysis. Worth watching for TradFi + DeFi crossover use cases.

Evening Take

The Polymarket perps announcement is the most interesting signal today. Not because it threatens Hyperliquid (it doesn’t, near-term) but because it signals prediction market platforms are expanding into financial infrastructure. When Kalshi gets there too, you have a new category of on-chain financial primitives that didn’t exist 18 months ago. The total addressable market for on-chain trading is much larger than current participants suggest.
